Mallika Sherawat, born as Reema Lamba, is a famous Indian actress and model. The Indian media often quotes her as the modern Indian sex symbol. Educated in Indian Philosophy from Miranda House, Delhi University, she changed her name to Mallika which means Empress and her Surname to her mother's maiden name Sherawat for all the support that Mallika got from her with regard to her Bollywood dreams. Though making her debut with Punjabi singer Surjit Bindrakhia's Luk Tunoo's music video, she made her actual film debut with the 2003 film, Khwahish, which got her well noticed. Her career took off with the 2004 film Murder which was inspired by the Hollywood film Unfaithful. The movie was the biggest grosser of the year. After this movie she became famous for her bold and courageous attitude. She also appeared in Jackie Chan's The Myth. Another hit came in 2006 with Pyaar Ke Side Effects where she starred alongside Rahul Bose. She was also seen in Himesh Reshammiya's debut film Aap Ka Suroor and the money spinner movie Welcome. She also starred in the Tamil film Dasavathaaram which had the noted actor, director Kamal Hasssan. She has also been voted to the list of 100 most beautiful people in Asia.
